Introducing: Suranu

Up and Coming

Just like it’s safe to say Lagos is the center stage of Nigeria, I believe it’s also right to say the northern city of Jos is the home of  creativity and talent. The Plateau state capitol that gave us Iceprince, Jesse Jagz, Mi and the multiple award winning duo of Peter and Paul Okoye (PSquare) just introduced a new talent to the world. He goes by the name of Suranu.

Born Suranu Maigadi, 20 years ago to the christian family Rev and Mrs. Barge Maigadi, Suranu received an American elementary and high school education before returning to Nigeria for his higher education. Presently, he is in his third year of study in the University of Jos where he is majoring in Law. He released a mixtape last week and has given you guys a free download of his joints!

Unlike most underground acts, I fell in love with his songs within 40 seconds. He has a very creative use of words and I must say his samplings are articulate. The mixtape includes a cover of  kanye West’s ‘Touch it’  and D’banj’s ‘Tongolo’  which featured EME recording Artiste, Skales.Check him out and share your thoughts with us..

Up and Coming: Titi Lo’kei- Hiphop’s Sweetheart

Born on January 29,1988 Titilope ‘ Lo’Kei ‘ Ademokun was destined for greatness. Out of Chicago, Illinois she has always had a unique appreciation for culture. Both of her parents were born and raised in Nigeria, Africa. Her appreciation for her Nigerian roots is evident in both her song and dance.

Titilope ‘LoKei’ Ademokun has worked diligently since the early age of 3 to perfect her lyrical and dance skills. Throughout her youth she continued to perform for crowds in order to attain the highest level of confidence on the stage. As Titilope ‘ Lo’Kei ‘ Ademokun matured as an artist she began to study the industry from the inside out. She has worked with WGCI 107.5 as a promotions and sales intern which allowed her to network and receive advice from such artist as Keri Hilson. She is a strong and persistent lyricist who has proven that she wants to to be a music mogul in her own right. Her music can be described as rhythmic and soulful, while bursting with R&B. Dee jays such as DJ Dee Money and DJ Phantom describe her as having great potential to take over the game as long as she continues to stay humble and differentiate herself. Up and Coming: BK

An eloquent rap artist from Ibadan, born in Cameroon to a family of 7 kids, B.K, aka Mr. Jege, started performing at the age of 14 as a dancer. Two years into that, he took interest in rap music and moved to Nigeria when he was 18 years.

He has been on the radar for the past 3 years and has been very consistent underground, working on himself. BK is into Rap and Hip-hop, but he also has his touch in R&B too (you can’t have too much talent, can you  :) ?). He released a 20-track mix tape this year titled “Music & Me Vol. 1” to the internet. His song “O da mi Lorun”, which is on the mix-tape, has been on play around a couple of places, and I must say, those who heard it know it is truly a work worth appreciation; your head just start’s bopping to the beat of the jam unconsciously!

He is one of the many promising next rated artistes in the industry to hit real big, real soon!

UP AND COMING: Appreciating The Rare Talents

One thing we cannot deny is the fact that we have a lot of talent amongst us. Some in acting, others in art, writing, singing, rapping and lots more. Majority of these people do not have an avenue to display their talents. But we will be focusing on the musical talent, cause that is what we do.

Gbedutainment will be presenting to you this month a number of talented and young, (well, not all too young, lol) artistes who have the gifts and mind-set to make it big in the musical entertainment business in Nigeria…and worldwide. We will also be accpeting from the artistes out there, their works which they haven’t been able to get the chance to put out.

These artists are just people who have just not had their chance to show and express themselves to the public, and Gbedutainment is giving these young pioneers the chance to make it big, and the talent will be coming from Africans, both home and abroad. But the efforts to make these artistes both locally and internationally known cannot be done without the help of you-the audience.

There are alot of  people with these gifts, and we mean ALOT, but we will try as much as possible to put up as much as we can for  people who truly deserve this privilege. So check yourself; the difference between you and the “other” guy is how much effort you put into what you bring to the table.
